My Students

My school serves a total population of around 180 students. We are a Title I rural school in eastern NC. Students are served from four different communities in our small school system. Most of the families work outside of the county, while jobs in the county are related to the agriculture sector.

Due to the recent effects of Hurricane Florence, we lost our school.

Now we are rebuilding. Although our community has been devastated by the storm, we as a community know that bringing back a sense of normal is the key to helping our students.

This strong family-oriented community will continue to grow from our adversity and succeed.

My Project

These materials will help my students present Science to their peers and move beyond the classroom taking the learning from the teacher to the students.

Making learning fun.

The dry erase markers will take the learning from notebooks and computers and turn table tops into learning surfaces that can be easily shared with peers.

We will also use the materials to take science outside and see how solar energy works beyond solar panels. Students understand the purpose and function of a solar panels but I would like to show my students how the energy from the sun can also be used beyond the solar panels
