My Project

I am serving a wonderful group of 6th and 8th grade students who want to be in an engaging learning environment. This project request is for a much-needed safe display storage cabinet for our growing preserved specimen collection. The specimens are beautiful but are currently hidden in the storage room instead of being on display for students to explore. I like to provide enrichment opportunities for those students who have mastered the concepts taught in class.

My students will have an opportunity to develop their scientific thinking skills such as making observations about the specimens and generating questions for research.

In addition, students will create an infographic to share information they learned in their research, including structural adaptations that help them to survive and environment interactions. Sharing this information with the class will help my students to develop communication skills. This would be a great opportunity for those students to explore, research, and share what they learned by contributing that information to the display cabinet.

I know that students will be inspired as they enter the room each day knowing that they are in an environment where they have an opportunity to learn and explore their interests. It is my goal to ensure that students have every opportunity to use their scientific thinking skills.
