Help me give my students classroom basics and a rock tumbler for our "slow changes to Earth" unit. We could really use a rug for our library area. The kids spend a lot of time there choosing books.

My Students

My students are currently slated to come back to school on August 3rd! They will be 7 and 8 years old. Second graders are the best students because they are still as sweet as younger kids, but they are old enough to do independent work! We have one of the higher English Language Learner populations in the area and we work hard to get our kids proficient as quickly as possible. Hawaiian culture is highly valued in our school and we incorporate it into our curriculum daily.

My Project

Aloha! Our students are asking for help getting a rock tumbler for our "slow changes to land" science unit. We are also looking for help getting a rug for our classroom library. The kids spend so much time there picking books and their little knees start to get sore without a rug to kneel on. The other items like the classroom paint, embroidery thread, tissue paper, and ink are all for various holiday arts and crafts. Because of COVID budget cuts, we had to let out art teacher go. Therefore, I am now the classroom art teacher. Donating to this project will help me grow my art supply closet and offer more exciting activities for the kids.

A few years ago I bought a rock tumbler to show my kids how Earth can change over time, but it broke last year. The kids just LOVE the project. I would like to replace it because the kids get a much better sense of how the slow changes work. They get to see a stone go from rough to smooth and polished.
