My Project

I am a first-year science teacher. Since science is something that has been bypassed in the primary grades while trying to move past COVID, there are very few science materials in my classroom. I was fortunate to have a Science program called Generation Genius funded by Donors Choose earlier in the year. This program is a standards-based program that my students love. It has projects for every lesson, but unfortunately, I am usually unable to come up with enough items to do those projects.

I am asking for various materials such as an Earthquake simulation kit, volcanic eruption simulation kit, an egg drop activity for students, a kit to examine weathering and erosion with rocks, and other interesting items.

These items will be used to demonstrate to students how these phenomena occur and what happens when they do. We live in an area where most students have never felt an earthquake or seen a volcanic eruption aside from what we can watch on video. It would be great for students to see simulations of these things and would enhance their learning. The wind vane, thermometers, and meteorology kits will be especially helpful in our weather unit. Students will be able to explore the various tools and see how they are used to measure different aspects of weather.

All of these materials will make learning more engaging for the students. Thank you for supporting my classroom.
