Help me give my students at-home science kits, including earbuds to hear me virtually, supplies to complete mineral/rock identification, and supplies to test mixtures and learn about properties of the states of matter!
Science is designed to answer investigative questions about the natural world.
I teach students both with and without disabilities, which promotes meaningful social inclusion in our community. Together, they explore the world with me through a mix of astronomy, geology, biology, and chemistry topics, which include geology on Mars, plate motion, rock transformations, phase change, chemical reactions, and matter and energy in ecosystems.
Since COVID-19 has taken away a lot of our live laboratory opportunities, I would like to give my hybrid students the opportunity to have their own science supplies to do experiments in my classroom and for my students at home to be able to do experiments on their own.
My Project
Students in my science classes are typically able to work on experiments and hands-on science learning in the classroom. Due to COVID-19, this must now be accomplished either virtually and with modifications in the classroom.
At-home science kits would allow students in the physical classroom to complete hands-on experiments with me while allowing my students at-home access to materials that would allow them to learn hands-on as well, even at home.
Both hybrid and virtual students would have access to hands-on science experiments, like testing and identifying different rocks and minerals, calculating density, identifying substances, and investigating and separating mixtures.
