Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students love to write about science. They were able to buy one notebook. I bought a few more, but now they need another set. We need help to get the materials we need to keep up with their busy minds but limited resources.
My students are energetic and motivated.
They attend a very challenging public middle school in the South Bronx of New York City. All of them are on free or reduced lunch and many face a upward battle. However, they love to learn and are motivated, positive, and wonderful children.
My Project
I am requesting 80 notebooks, approximately 1 for every student, so they can use it to write down their notes to finish out the school year. The school does not supply these materials and the students cannot afford them. I have already purchased several for each student myself and cannot afford to purchase more this year. I need help and so do my students. This will help them record their learning and make their classroom experience much more enriching. It seems simple ... just a notebook, but it is so important, and we need them. Please help us.
I am also requesting 4 sets of stamps.
Our project is so important because a notebook is vital - every child should have simple things like pencil and paper to write on.
These students need to be able to write their thoughts and experiences on paper. I can teach them with my voice, on the board, but they need some place to show their work! It is true, but many do not have the resources to bring a notebook to school.
