My students need composition notebooks to be able to keep science notebooks throughout the school year. The card stock is also needed to help color code the students vocabulary cut and paste activities.
Students that enter my classroom are bright, young individuals that come from a variety of backgrounds. My school has a very high free lunch rate. Many students in my school struggle to bring a pencil or paper to class. My school houses a garden that many times students have the chance to work in.
I believe every student can be successful.
In my classroom students are taught to work hard every day no matter what they are facing in life. I believe that every student is able to overcome and triumph. Many of my students rise to my expectations through their behavior and classwork.
My Project
As a science teacher, I have always wanted to engage students through science notebooks. Every year I have a huge number (at least half), of my students that are not able to supply a composition notebook, or the students run out of space in their composition notebook. Due to this, science notebooks have not been 100% successful in my class. I would love extra composition notebooks to be able to take science notebooks to the next level in my classroom.
Vocabulary plays an important role in the understanding of science concepts.
The card stock will be used for vocabulary sheets. In the past, the students vocabulary sheets have not held up well because they were not on card stock. I have also requested three colors (one for each unit), to help the students color code the vocabulary for each unit!
