This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school administration is sponsoring an overnight science field trip for our 5th grade students. Our students enjoy hands-on projects that allow them to apply what they have learned. They are inquisitive and work hard to exceed despite some of their challenges.
My class is very excited about this awesome opportunity.
Most of them have never been outside of the city or on a camping trip. Many of them experience hardship and difficulty at home. School is not only a place to learn but a safe and stable environment.
This trip will allow my students to engage in science projects that will enhance their understanding of concepts. It will expose them to new ideas and make learning fun.
My Project
The materials requested will be used for an overnight science field trip during the spring. The students will participate in day and night interactive science activities that will allow hands on experiences not available in the classroom. The night activities will consist of campfires, hiking and astronomy activities. The flashlights will provide an extra source of light during hikes. The insect repellent will be used to keep the bugs from biting.
The walkie-talkies requested will provide students with the ability to communicate with each other.
The students will travel in groups and need to communicate information such as location or changes in plans due to weather, etc.
It is our expectation that all students will gain a better understanding of environmental and life science through this experience.
