Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are loving, energetic, and are ready to learn new things! They are the most inquisitive 5 year olds who demonstrate a curiosity about everything around them. My students love to interact with their sixth grade science/tech buddies at our school.
My students are eager to learn and are motivated by technology rich lessons!
My students are naturally drawn to technology and can easlily learn many new educational applications very quickly on our Ipads. They are very excited when we get any opportunity to introduce coding with our buddies.
My Project
Dash and WeDo robots are an engaging way for my students to explore coding with their buddies. Coding is a 21st century STEAM skill that students need to prepare for to be competitive for jobs in the future.
We are looking to fill our classroom technology lab with some Dash and WeDo robots to use with our Science/Technology buddies.
These Dash and WeDo robots can be programmed to carry, move, drop, and throw objects. In order to get the Dash and WeDo robots to be able to perform these tasks, students have to think creatively to solve design challenges. In order to code the robots, students must put together a plan and implement actions by producing the proper code for the robots to follow. These robots will allow each student to think very carefully about their problem and find a solution.
