My Students

My students are middle school students in an area hit hard by Hurricane Irma in 2017. Despite all setbacks last year, my students are ready to learn with hands-on authentic scientific inquiry experiences.

Recovery from a hurricane has been difficult, but my students are eager to learn and are excited to learn through reading, writing and through inquiry labs.

Barometers will help us to study weather, slides will help students see plant cells and animal cells. Other equipment will help us to study energy and forces.

My Project

My students thrive in a learning environment that is engaging. Hands-on inquiry with projects that spark students questioning and reasoning skills are what I strive for and what my students seek. Almost every day my students come in hoping that it is a lab day.

Most people look back on their science days in school, and remember lab activities the most.

This year, we will learn how to make and study a slide. We will study weather, so barometers will be essential. We will also be learning about forces and energy, so bouncy balls and small cars are essential. We are in a school district that has a budget shortfall. With your help my students will have the lab activities they need and the budget will not affect them at all. They are ready to make a difference in the science community.
