Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from very diverse backgrounds. They enrich each other because of their unique individual backgrounds that they have. I am fortunate enough to have several different countries represented in my classes. This diversity gives my students the opportunity to learn from each other and find commonalities among their differences. Education plays a big part in their lives, and they tell me daily how important education is to them.

The love and passion my students show in learning and exploring the world through Science gives me the opportunity to want to create an environment of hands on activities, research, and to assist their learning as a facilitator.

By encouraging, guiding, and allowing them to make mistakes as they learn, I continue to be their cheerleader. I remind my students that Science has been with them since they were babies. They have been curious from a very young age. Curiosity, experiments, trials and errors are all part of growing up, learning, and being educated.

My Project

The Lakeshore STEM Learning Labs and Physical Science Activity Labs were selected to give my students the opportunity to explore using these hands on activities. They will just not read about it or watch other individuals do experiments. They will actually be able to be part of one.

Each individual child will have the possibility to learn because each learning style in my classroom would be addressed by using these kits.

The kits will be used as centers to reinforce what is being taught and motivate my students to continue being curious and to seek knowledge through science especially to give the ability to prepare themselves for our state assessment. Most of the questions on our state assessment use experiment scenarios.
