I teach science in a public high school with a very diverse set of students in terms of ethnic, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. Our school strives to help all students become college and career ready with an emphasis on improving science engagement for minority students. I teach 5 classes that range in size from 32-36 that include english-learnering, GATE, and special education students.
Many students from my classes will become the first person in their family to attend a university.
My students are highly motivated, diverse, and ready to make a difference in their communities!
Nearpod is an extremely useful service that can help students access materials and take responsibility in their learning! Nearpod gives the students the ability to interact with lessons through integrated slides with polls, collaboration, quizzes, online science lab simulations and more! It also helps to encourage all students to participate because students can answer questions anonymously and have access to materials from class at home to review. Nearpod also allows me to receive formative assessment data reports on every student to track participation and comprehension. To top it all off, Nearpod even includes digital field trips that my students would otherwise not be able to attend! Nearpod makes learning science more engaging for all students!
