My students are excited and eager to learn and explore new topics. They are aware we lack funds to buy full class sets of magazines or even textbooks; however, they do not give up on learning. These students and their teacher would graciously appreciate any support given to them.
My students are a diverse group from different backgrounds who come from home environments that speak more than one language.
When you walk down our hallways during any school event, one will hear languages from all over the world: for example, Spanish, Hindi, Korean, Mandarin, Amharic, Cantonese, and Arabic. Our school has a large English Language Learner population that would benefit from this project.
My 5th grade science students are in desperate need of current science news and vivid photos/videos to spark their interest in science. Scholastic's magazine, Super Science, will provide the vivid photos, online access, and differentiated articles to reach all learners in my classroom. These learners need motivation not only from me but from a variety of sources around them. In my science class, I am committed to blending digital and small-group enrichment activities by effectively providing strategies and hands-on resources. I want to challenge and motivate my high achieving students, as well as my struggling students, by providing one of the best resources in education - Scholastic Super Science. Please help me bring this valuable magazine into my science classroom.
