This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our district is first in line to be taken over by the state. They have missed managed the districts money and are about to run out of money. Due to this mismanagement, funding to the schools sites for things like science materials have been cut.

Most of the students I work with don't get hands on experience with science.

Many have never been to a museum, unless it was on a class field trip. I have sweet children, who get so excited to experience new things. My children don't get to see or do much outside of a few block from where they live.

My Project

My goal is to open these children's eyes to see many things in our world. Most of my students aspire to have the same jobs as their parents: gardeners, house cleaners, or work in a fast food restaurant. Doing the job that their parents do is noble and worthy but I want them to know there are many other jobs and experiences out there that might interest them. I feel that science is a window to my favorite question - Why? I love to hear a child ask why, because I know they are thinking. This is why I am asking for an Owl Pellet Dissection kit.

Kids learn the best through hands on experiences.

Kids learn when they are engaged and are having fun. I hope to bring them some fun learning through experiments. Thanks you for your consideration.
