My Students
Do you remember how fun and exciting learning chemistry was? Many people share how difficult and boring chemistry was for them in high school. Chemistry and other science classes don't have to be boring, lecture based classes. With an LCD projector we can make learning chemistry fun.
My students come from many diverse backgrounds as we are an urban school for music, art and the performing arts.
In addition to applying themselves in academic classrooms students at our school spend time every day learning and perfecting their art form. Our school is filled with dancers, musicians, singers, actors, and visual artists who have a natural curiosity about the world around them. The students choose to come to this school for their art and I want help inspire them to love coming to my science class to learn more about how science shapes our world.
My Project
My students need an LCD projector to view Real-Life demonstrations and videos that make Chemistry more real to them. Having an LCD projector will allow our class to see VIVID chemistry demonstrations and other videos that allow students to see the Chemistry in action, e.g., What does a chemical reaction look like? How do Gatorade and other sports drinks relate to energy and chemicals in the body? My students will be able to see real-life chemistry that we aren't able to do in class with real materials due to lack of resources or safety hazards. Many students are visual learners and thrive by SEEING chemistry that can be related to content. And overall, seeing Chemistry can be pretty cool!
An LCD projector will allow students to see, learn, and thrive in school.
This project will help provide the "hook" of excitement by providing visual, applicable chemistry visuals and videos in our classroom. Thank You!
