Help me give my students engaging lessons with books, hands-on kits, and a game show kit!

My Students

I have the best job on the planet because of my wonderful students. My students are eager to learn, and they are not afraid of hard tasks. They are not afraid of making mistakes because they know that mistakes are proof that they are trying, and our classroom is a safe place to try new things. My students love praise and positive feedback. When they hear how hard they are working and how great they are doing, they become more motivated to give their learning their best effort.

My students are motivated by electronics and technology.

In a digital age, my 5th graders are more advanced in technology than many adults! They thrive when I give them tasks online, and they beg for more. They are at an age where they would much rather go find the information we are learning themselves than to listen to a teacher talk. I like to think of myself as a facilitator of their learning because I plan the projects and activities that align with our state standards, but my students will often times teach themselves through their research and collaboration!

My Project

The items I am requesting will help my students learn both social studies and science. The King George book will be used as a class novel study while we learn about the American Revolution. The multicultural books will be used for book clubs. The primary source documents will be a great tool to use while studying many different history or government topics. The science kits provide hands-on lessons.

All of these items will increase student engagement, but the game show especially will make learning fun!

I'm always looking for ways to pull my students interests into our lessons to help them connect to their learning, and I know this game show will be a big hit! I can even change the questions to match the current standards being taught!
