My Students

In our school of 400+ students, 65% of students are low socioeconomic status and 35% of students are learning English as a new language. First grade is a crucial year for students to develop language, reading, and mathematical skill sets that will continue to grow throughout their educational career. My class of 20 first graders is made up of students learning English, students with different learning styles and students who are above grade level.

My goal as an educator is to provide the necessary experiences to help students grow personally as students and citizens.

My Project

My students currently use college ruled notebooks to express their ideas during writing time. My students need notebooks that will help them with the writing process because they have lines that are more developmentally appropriate lines for first graders. Also, I chose notebooks that have pages with room to draw to use in science class. In science, we draw diagrams and label pictures, so this space is essential for my students.

These notebooks will help my students to develop a love of writing and written expression!

These notebooks will help my students learn how to communicate their ideas through writing. I also will allow students to share their writing during Author's Chair. Please help my students to have notebooks that are developmentally appropriate for their writing needs!
