This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Some see disabilities, but special education teachers see possibilities."
My students consist of a diverse group of children with varying special needs.
They each require some extra attention to reach their potential. My students are exceptional learners who sometimes need accommodations to be successful. Most of them are learning functional and life skills such as toileting, social skills, following simple directions, and how to manage outbursts and sensory needs.
These children are capable of so much more than even I realize, and they continue to surprise me with their abilities. They bring so much joy to our school.
My Project
When school is in session, our students are working on so many things other than academics. We are also working on communication, functional and social skills! We learn how to interact with others, how to share, how to react and respond in social situations, how to follow schedules and even some basic living skills. When school is on a break, I would love to provide my students with things to do to help them keep learning!
Games are an excellent way for students to work on academic and functional skills, while also having fun!
By providing my students who are both in person and remote learners some games for them to have over the upcoming school breaks (Weekends, Mardi Gras, and Spring Break), we will give them something fun to do with their families, while also learning and working on social skills! Games would encourage students to spend time with their families, encourage them to work on functional skills, strengthen academics and critical thinking skills and so much more.
