Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in an inner city school district. I have 25 first grade students. Our students come from very diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Many students do not have access to the school supplies that they need to help them be successful at school.
My students come to school every day and are eager to learn.
They are excited about the opportunities they have at school to be successful in their academics. They look forward to learning and interacting with their peers.
My Project
Please help me give my students supplies so they can be successful with remote learning.
My school district is starting the school year remotely.
These school supplies will be given to the students for remote learning. Many students do not have access to basic school supplies. This will be even more challenging with the students being remote. White boards and markers are used daily in reading and math. With the white board and markers, students will be able to do their work remotely and then hold up their answers to share during the live video lessons.
Scissors, glue and crayons are also used daily for learning. We do a lot of cutting and gluing, as well as coloring. By having these supplies at home, students will be able to use and practice these skills.
The journals will be used for students to record their answers. First grade is a critical year for students to practice writing their letters, words and sentences. The journals are perfect for them to practice this skill as well.
