Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students I serve are an energetic, loving group of 5 and 6 year olds who are eager to learn and leave their mark on the world. This year we have created a community of learners who are all invested in the learning of the whole team and work collaboratively to engage each other in this process. They have, as a whole, expressed an interest and excitement about diverse literature in their noticing of the characters, locations, and cultural expressions within the books we have already read.

This investment and compassion in others radiates out of them in everything they do throughout our day.

These authentic opportunities for higher level teaching and learning are ones that we cherish as teachers and strive to create in any way possible.

These students truly have a heart for others and deserve the opportunity to expand on this knowledge base.

My Project

Throughout the year we do many projects that explore students identities and perspectives. To aid in this development we need materials that allow students to represent themselves and others in their truest form.

Students will be able to construct, collaborate, build and engage in conversations that will help build their capacity as global citizens.

Multicultural materials such as construction paper, markers and crayons,

give students the opportunity to explore their skin tones and represent others skin tones in non-binary ways.

These supplies will help us learn and grow all year and we are eager to get started from the first day of school on!
