Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach multicultural students from all over the world! Several of the kids in my class have been in refugee camps where they have endured many different circumstances to get here! My goal is to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for these students!
I purchase things on my own all the time, but with my salary--it gets tight.
These kids deserve quality texts and all the school supplies they need! Their little faces light up every day they walk through my door, ready to learn--I want to keep that engagement to help them learn to read and write. Thank you so much for your offering!
My Project
My students do not get good snacks each day. Every day nearly of the year they get raisins. Most of my students hate raisins but that's what we get. My goal is to provide healthier snacks that they enjoy. Many of these families are very poor so eating at school maybe some of their only real meals. I know this because they tell me and some of the kids will take home the raisins for their mom or siblings. Cleaning supplies are a MUST--- I always run out of Clorox wipes. Expo markers for their whiteboards and changes of clothes (though I hope we don't need them) are still important to have on hand in case of an accident. Last year I bought these multiple times for a child.
