First graders love to move! I want to provide a supportive and engaging classroom that allows them to do just that! Flexible seating is a great way for students to have some degree of control over their environment. We are requesting a wobble chair and bouncy bands. I have read many studies promoting this student- centered approach stating how it encourages students to stay focused and productive. A 2012 study for the University of Minnesota found that students participated 48% more in a classroom with collaborative group seating versus traditional lecture style seating, also improving their performances on standardized test!
