I have a creative group of students. These students have a desire to learn. They love activities and projects. These truly engage them. They strive to do well in school. Many of them have outside jobs and participate in extracurricular activities. Most of the students plan on going to college.
Some of the students will be first in their family to attend college.
Daily, they work on skills that will help them succeed in school and in life. They know they have the community behind them. When they are not working hard in school, they are working in their community. Many even work after school jobs to support their family and community. The school is behind them and is willing to do all that is needed to help them complete their dreams.
My Project
Every semester my students are required to complete a major research paper. I try to leave the topic somewhat open for the students to truly grasp the idea of research papers in college. They need post-its and tabs for marking pages in books. They need pens and pencils for taking notes and writing rough drafts. The students need index cards to write their research notes on and highlighters for completing research. Lastly, the students need report covers to put their completed research paper in to turn in to me. These papers greatly assist students with writing and research paper skills for college.
