Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are curious, energetic, and have an unwitting desire to work hard and be kind. I empower my students to take ownership of their learning, even if they are only six or seven years old. By providing them with a space to take academic risks, my students know they are learning in a safe and nurturing environment.
It amazes me daily how resilient my students are.
Almost all of my students are considered low-income. Our school provides 100% free lunches for all student. Nevertheless, my students come to school each day ready to learn no matter what challenges they have faced before the school day starts.
My Project
Imagine starting your first day of Grade One excited to learn but having little to no supplies to do it. This is the reality that many of my scholars will face in August. We are a school where nearly all of our students are low-income. This means that although parents want their students to succeed, they don't have the financial means to provide them with the supplies they need.
All of these supplies will ensure that my scholars have an equal start on the first day of school.
With your help, I will be able to provide my scholars with the ability to enjoy the first day of school without having to worry about any supplies. These supplies will ensure that my scholars are able to complete group work and different learning centers. They will also be able to utilize the white boards to work collaboratively to complete assignments in STEM.
