Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fantastic kindergarten students are special in many different ways but most importantly because of their positive outlook on life. They come to school with such huge smiles on their faces and are genuinely excited to learn, even when their home environment is not always ideal. They come from a variety of backgrounds since some are local students who live in multi-family apartment homes and others are transfer students who come from middle class homes. However, each year I am amazed at how well they get along with each other and how truly caring they are toward one another. I learn so much from them each day and am inspired to teach to the best of my ability because of how special they all are to me.
Students are the reason teachers dedicate endless hours to the profession and are also the reason why teachers utilize sites like Donors Choose.
We know what students need to succeed and I want to provide them with the tools and experiences they need to be successful in life.
My Project
Every child deserves to come to school and receive the same basic school supplies that every other child who can afford them does. It is unfortunate that some children have to arrive to their first day of school without a pencil box, crayons, scissors, or other supplies that their peers are able to bring.
I want every single one of my students to receive the tools they need to be successful in kindergarten and your donation to this project will help me accomplish that goal.
Students will utilize the folders for their classwork and homework which they will be able to transport to and from school. The scissors, glue sticks, crayons, pencils, and erasers will be used in countless activities within the classroom as I am sure you can imagine with any kindergarten classroom. The students have also loved the listening center in the past and my cassette tapes are becoming quite outdated so receiving books on CD would be wonderful in helping students discover their joy for reading.
Every teacher struggles with wanting to provide the necessary supplies for all students in their classroom and unfortunately it is not always possible. However, your donation will help provide the needed supplies for many students and will definitely put a smile on many kindergarten faces!
