This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a new teacher that has started teaching my class halfway through the school year. My students are awesome but have had multiple teachers within the past two years. We are in one of the most trendiest neighborhoods going through a lot of gentrification. They are pretty resilient and the community helps out a lot!
We are a Title 1, 40/40 school and my students do not have a lot of resources at home.
Because of which, I am making an account on here to see if we can get some supplies to make our great classroom awesome! Even though it may seem normal for students to have things like pencils and crayons, a lot of my students may not be able to bring them in from home. I, however, do not think that it makes them any less prepared to come in and learn.
My Project
My students do not supply 90% of their school supplies. This makes creating an inviting learning environment difficult. With this project, I strive to meet their basic learning necessities.
My students need pencils, erasers, and colored pencils.
They fight about them constantly because they are so scarce. Having them accessible on their desks in a caddy allows everyone to have one when they are most needed. This pencil sharpener allows me to sharpen these colored pencils so that they will be used correctly and not thrown out, because they break most conventional ones. Even something as simple as set of classroom scissors are another example of a staple in a 3rd grade classroom environment that we don't currently have.
Lastly, I have added some basic organization supplies. Things like folders and paper clips help every single day. For my students to be able to learn to organize their belongings builds life skills that will impact them forever. Also, knowing where to get things and to put them up, allows the entire day to run more smoothly.
Thanks to donors like you, we can make sure that even the most basic needs of our great students in my class can be met! We appreciate you!
