Hello Donors! My name is Ms. Banks and I am a new teacher at Amidon-Bowen Elementary School in Southwest DC. I took over my 3rd grade class in March. My kids are awesome! Amidon-Bowen is a title 1 school. This means that they need the most funding because of the economic needs of the students that attend here. It is also what DCPS has designated a 40/40 school. This means that is has been identified as one of the 40 lowest performing schools in the district. Because of such, our students' families are not always necessarily able to provide all of the materials needed for our students. This, of course, doesn't make them any less awesome either. If you choose to donate to our classroom, know that we are very grateful for whatever you can provide. Having school supplies, technology, and manipulatives help to provide a deeper understanding of curriculum and develop higher order thinking skills!
