Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every morning my students start the day off on the floor, ready for their language lesson. Even though we are a Title I school in a low-income neighborhood, my students arrive each morning excited to learn. Their little faces light up the room with their huge smiles! I am a first year teacher for some amazing second graders.
They are smart and energetic.
Best of all, they are enthusiastic about learning! We are currently a class of 22 children. Our school administration is great. They do what they can to support student learning, but their budget can only extend so far. As a second year teacher, so can mine!
My Project
In my project I am asking for some basic school supplies to help us finish the year off strong. We will be starting out measurement unit so the rulers are a must! We also want to keep spirits high and behaviors down so our new class pet will be coming to our classroom. Introducing Perla the Pig! She will be going home for the weekend with our start student every week and they will get to write and share a letter to the class about all of the adventures and fun things they did together. Our class also loves to watch engaging videos to introduce topics but our computer speakers aren't loud enough for all to hear so we hope these new speakers will do the trick! Our class is also running low on Expo markers. We use these every single day to help solve math problems as well as writing out daily responses. Lastly, we would like to get the timer to help us switch between centers more easily.
