Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students need school supplies to help get learning off to a good start and to maintain that as the year goes on. Students are not always able to bring what is needed for work in class. Having supplies to offer them helps them to feel better about their work. Fifth graders are becoming more self-conscious at this age, and having supplies for them, helps them feel better about themselves.
The students at my class come from low income households that cannot always afford the materials they need to learn at school.
I do my best to provide my students with any materials they need to do their work and be successful. I have a great group of students that really deserve to have a chance to be the best they can be!
My Project
Students need basic school supplies in order to complete their work. We go through lots of pencils, erasers, paper, and other basics as the year goes by. Once students are out of certain materials, they often have a difficult time replacing them. Many students don't bring any supplies, or a minimal amount, so it is up to us to supply them. When these basic supplies are available for the students, it takes pressure off them and the stigma of not having what they need. They are then able to focus on the task at hand, which leads to confidence and success.
