School Lunches Just Aren't Enough...Help Feed My Hungry High Schoolers!

My Students

My high school students are coming to my class starving. This is happening in the morning and in the afternoon. Our district used to have funding for a backpack program but funding ran out. This gave our students plenty of snacks and goodies for them to each but like most things, the funding ran out and we no longer do it.

My Project

My students come in hungry every single day. Many times, even though we have a snack shack, students do not come to school with money to spend. When that is the case, then they come to me. My husband and I try to keep an abundant supply of snacks but it is becoming overwhelming. It is no longer about rewarding them with snacks it is about giving them snacks so they can function for the rest of the day. By 2:30 most days, their lunches have completely worn off and I have nothing to give.
