Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school's budget has been frozen. Due to several mishaps in calculations, we no longer have any money for paper, pencils, or even enough funds to buy copies of books for each student.
My school is over 90% free and reduced lunch and the teachers here are working tirelessly to close the achievement gap.
However, we are battling a budget crisis and most teachers have already spent hundreds of dollars on basic supplies because there isn't any more money in the budget for these needs. Most students and their families do not have money to purchase items such as paper and markers for the class. In addition, many students come to school without materials such as pencils, paper, or a binder. Therefore, teachers typically supply these materials. These are necessities our students need in order to help them learn.
My Project
Being able to have copy paper will allow me to copy stories and poetry for my students to read. We do not have text books with this material provided, nor are we provided anymore paper for the rest of the year. If I am able to receive paper, pencils, binders, white board markers and other necessities, my students will be able to have the tools to learn and I will have the tools to teach effectively.
My students deserve to receive the best education possible.
However, with our current budget constraints, I lack some of the resources needed to assist me in this mission. Please support this project so that my students and I can have the materials we need to function and achieve high levels of academic success.
