Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 4th grade students are energetic and hard working. They love to learn and interact with their environment, using a hands-on approach to learning. This group of students comes from a wide variety of backgrounds ethnically, culturally and financially. The majority of our students are bilingual.
Over 80% of the students in our school receive free and reduced-price lunch and are from low economic backgrounds.
I strive to give them opportunities they might not otherwise experience.
Fourth grade can be a real turning point for learning and developing for many children. They are still "little kids," but they are growing up fast, so it is important to keep them excited and interested in learning.
My Project
For many years as a teacher I have been using Scholastic news weekly. The kids love the magazine itself but they also love all of the technology extensions that come with it. This year we were very grateful that Scholastic News can be done digitally from home as we were teaching remotely.
Scholastic News is something a lot of remember from our school years and I want all of my students to have the same experience!
This is always a great addition to my classroom teaching and the kids always love it!
