My Project
Students love to read about what is happening in today's world and feel informed. In an age of digital media, teaching 4th graders how to critically evaluate news sources is essential. Scholastic News can serve as a starting point for discussions about media literacy and introduce young minds to high quality, age appropriate news sources.
By donating to this project, you will be empowering the next group of young leaders and scholars.
Scholastic News exposes students to current events and real-world issues in a way that is tailored to their age and comprehension level. Inside each issue, students can read about community service, science discoveries, real-life kid stories and positive world issues. Each issue comes with a "Debate of the Week" section, which is a great source for opinion writing and can aid in the development of social skills as students learn to debate topics in a respectful way.
Fourth graders are naturally curious about what is happening in our community and world, and they are eager to be part of the solutions to problems we face. The weekly editions of Scholastic News will keep us informed and spark discussion and debate about current events.
