Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I will be teaching first grade next year and my first grade classroom is made up of wonderful, talented students.

Some of my students come from bilingual households and share their culture with us every day in the classroom.

All my students receive free breakfast and lunch due to their socioeconomic status.

My students' needs are very diverse and I would like to reach them in any way possible. I believe that giving them time in a daily listening center will help to increase their reading and listening skills.

Research shows that whether you are low-income or not, mindset is a bigger predictor of success than academic skills, and how students gain great academic skills and persevere in the face of challenges.

My Project

I would like to give my students the opportunity to use colorful, interesting texts during reading and science. My students used Scholastic News and Science Spin this year and loved it! I would like to give my next class the same opportunity.

By donating to my class you will help my class increase their reading skills.

You will also be helping my students increase their academic achievement!

These materials will offer my students with background knowledge that they do not have access to. It will also help to increase their science knowledge and problem-solving skills. Thank you for helping my first grade class grow!
