Help me give my students a monthly subscription to Scholastic News magazine. These magazines are full of current events. These would be a great resource to use in my class to teach non-fiction text features.

My Students

I teach a group of 5th graders with a variety of learning styles. I currently have 26 students. They love to be challenged and find new ways to solve problems.

My 10-11-year-olds are fun-loving, competitive, and enthusiastic learners.

My students are creative and love to read. They find pride in discovering new concepts. Their drive and determination encourage me to find and discover new and innovative ways to reach them. I love seeing their passion for school and discovering new things.

My Project

These materials will help my students stay up to date on current events from around our globe. The Scholastic News magazines are full of articles that are age appropriate. These articles will be crucial for teaching non-fiction text features as well as fluency. Students will benefit from the non-fiction articles found in the magazines as they are similar to the articles and passages they will read on state issued standardized tests. Comprehension is a huge standard and providing my students with multiple resources will help them master the skills needed to be proficient.
