My Students

I teach at a wonderful elementary school in Rhode Island.

My classroom this year is filled with amazing students from diverse backgrounds.

These students are eager to learn and excited about all subject areas. Our learners read at different reading levels and Scholastic News meets the needs of all learners in our community.

We have 20 amazing children in 4th grade who love writing, reading, and embrace nonfiction texts.

This class loves to be challenged! They love to discuss and debate topics of interest.

My Project

Scholastic News has been an amazing resource in our classroom for years.

We use the text for various projects.

We highlight the text, finding evidence to support our thinking.

The magazines inspire action as well as conversations about current events, climate change, political views, popular trends, and many more. We conduct interviews relating to topics in the magazines. We write persuasive essays that allow students to voice their opinion and inspire advocacy.

The magazines are a tool and connection to what is going on in the world today. I cannot imagine a year without this resource. The students love reading Scholastic Magazine and Science Spin!
