Scholastic News and Magazines to Increase Interest in Math and Science

My students need magazine subscriptions from Scholastic. These subscriptions are excellent for students morning work, and individual reading in class. We are striving to increase students interest in Math and Science at our school.

My Students

We are a public charter school, Title I school, and the majority of our students come from low income to average families. The students receive free breakfast and lunch from school and many do not have monies to purchase their school supplies needed for school each year. Our school funding is very limited for classroom resources. We have an older school, and I would love to bring new technologies and resources to my students. In order to make this possible, I need help from Donors Choose, and donors like you.

We are a community-based K-12 school and have about an 83% Native American population.

We aim to blend learning and culture in our classrooms. Students in my classroom work very hard and come to school eager to learn every day. There's nothing more motivating than to see students walk in with a big smile and positive attitude every morning. Our students are faced with many struggles at home, so when they come to school, I want them to feel their best. I want my students to have the same opportunities as other students. They are very willing and motivated to learn, however we lack many resources that other schools have.

My Project

Scholastic magazines are very colorful, and easy to ready. These wonderful magazine weekly readers are sure to be a great fit for my students. Students love to read these during their morning work time, and during their individual time. The magazines offers many activities as well as reading tools for students. Each student need their own subscription, and this can be costly for teachers. I teach 3,4, and 5th grade students in Science and Math, and I have an objective this year to increase my students interests in Math and Science. These magazines will be great with our STEM and Math activities.
