Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in north Los Angeles county with a diverse population of students. We are a sixth grade class operating on an elementary school campus. My students are a great group of kids who will be learning math and science from me this school year. I am excited to be their educator.

My ultimate goal for the year is to provide these students with the skills and resources they need to be successful next year when they officially head to middle school.

My Project

I am hoping to raise funds to get a class set of Science World, a student Scholastic magazine that will allow students to read about how science has been applied in the real world. I am asking for only one set of magazines that can be shared between two classes.

Students will use these magazines as resources and references to support the science curriculum.

Ultimately I want to make science fun and relatable. I remember loving Scholastic magazines when I was a student, so I would love to provide that for my kids as well. This would be a great resource to allow students to tie science and literacy together.
