This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Do you remember your Mom taking you to the library as a child? Enjoying a story, laughing and learning in your own bed? Well those fond memories do not exist for a lot of children today due to busy schedules, lack of transportation, and/or safety concerns.

Everyone knows that basic reading skills should be mastered as early as possible.

This is why exposing the world of books (preferably without technology) to students at this age is so crucial. I would love to get books through Scholastic Book Clubs for my growing readers. This would mean 25 copies of various books that my students get to hold, read and enjoy at home. These titles, including Charlotte's Web, will help expose my students to books, characters, and help them develop the love of reading. PLUS, with the coupon books, students will get to pick out books that personally interest them! I want my students to know that reading books is a reward, something they "get" to do.
