Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the privilege of spending my days with some outstanding 4th and 5th grade students. My students are compassionate and curious, and like the staff at our school, they are constantly seeking out new knowledge.

My school was once one of the lowest performing schools in the state, but thanks to a dedicated staff, administration, and student body we've become one of the top performing schools in the state.

My students come from a diverse community and deserve to have access to all the materials and curriculum they need in order to learn and grow together.

My Project

My students spend a great deal of time working on the rug in our classroom. They sprawl out and become engrossed in a good book, sit in circles of small groups to collaborate, and complete work, like fraction number lines, that require more space than a table provides.

After many years of use, our current rug is thin, stained, and tattered around the edges.

A clean, beautiful environment sends the message to my students that they matter, that their education matters. With a new classroom rug, they can cozy up and focus on the important work they are doing. This rug will provide the space my students deserve to complete high-quality work.
