My Project
Our urban school of almost 1700 students has a long-standing tradition of pride and community. Our students love to read and are deeply invested in learning about events and experiences different from their own and becoming critical thinkers. They especially love to challenge their thinking, connect to others’ life experiences, and deepen their understanding of the world. What better way to do that than in the pages of a scary story?
The books that you purchase will directly impact students because they will be used in our student and classroom book clubs.
Students love to read mysteries, horror, and survival stories. The books they check out directly reflect the books they want to read.
A student's choice to read during this time reflects their need to escape the realities we are living through, and purchasing these books will provide students a reading reprieve from everyday life and a social opportunity to bond with other students.
We will use the books to support independent reading, student book clubs, and classroom book clubs. These books will grow and nurture students' reading lives.
