This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of my students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds and are a mixture of Hispanic and African American students. They are also students who have special needs. Parents do their best to provide the bare essentials that their kids need to start school but many times that is all that they can give them. Many of the families have at least 4 kids in the school. It is a lot to ask a family to purchase materials when some of them cannot pay their utility bills. Although the parents and the school community do their best to provide for the children, with budget cuts it is getting harder to provide them with tools for learning.

My Project

I am requesting scanners for my classroom so that I can scan text for my students to be used for Google Classroom. Most of my students work and instruction will be conducted through Google Classroom. This year will be a difficult year because our school budget has been drastically cut. I am trying to be as frugal as possible without neglecting the needs of my students. Scanning text will cut down on copying papers. It will also benefit my students because all of their assignments will be in one place for them to complete and keep organized. I will be able to give them immediate feedback on their written work as well as other assignments.

Using scanners for my classroom will allow me to choose text that I can differentiate for my students.

This will also greatly prepare my students for high school and their futures.
