My Students
I teach in an urban school district that serves students of all backgrounds. Students face all types of challenges, and, with that in mind, I look for my classroom to be a fun and memorable experience by relating content to their everyday lives.
My students are hardworking, hungry and yearning for more.
They are eager to perform experiments and analyze problems. They are truly scientific in their nature. I enjoy channeling their drive into a productive classroom and want to provide the best materials, tools and environment for them.
My Project
This project will allow for our classroom to become a more efficient place for laboratories to take place. Currently students share a few scales for their lab data. Adding these scales to our classroom would allow every group to have their own scale. Additionally, the posters that are requested will help make the classroom a more vibrant space. The Anatomy of an Atom poster gives an interesting twist on some fundamental chemistry concepts, while the Women in Science poster is an intentional ask to help students recognize the women that have made major contributions to the fields of science (which is traditionally thought of as a male dominant field).
Access to basic supplies should not be a privilege, it should be a cornerstone of everyone's science experience.
I look forward to seeing how this impacts the efficiency of our classroom and also am excited at the opportunity for all students to get a chance to have a hands-on experience.
