Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my 6th year of teaching. I have taught both international and nationally. My experiences have taught me that students, no matter the age, learn best by doing. It is my goal to provide as many active learning situations as possible. I am technology driven individual and strive to bring as much technology into the classroom whether it is through STEAM projects, apps, or project based learning. My school serves a low-income area of San Bernadino, CA. The majority of the population are English Learners.
The school is a K-6 and serves over 700 children and has fantastic teachers who love their students.
The goal is prepare every student for college and career readiness no matter their income. To prepare students to be productive citizens of a global society.
My Project
Your donation goes to helping 24 students avoid the very problematic Summer slump. Summer slump occurs when children go home over the summer and do not read or study for 2 months. My hope is to combat this by gifting them with 3rd grade level flashcards and a high interest chapter book, giving them a headstart for the next school year.
Students will be gifted at the end of the year a set of multiplication flash cards to prepare them for third grade math and one chapter book to promote literacy.
Gift bags will be decorated by myself with words of motivation and personalized notes.
All students live in a high property area and the families do not have funds for any extras. Most students do not even own 1 book of their own. Your donation will start an at-home library and give them a head start with multiplication.
