My Students

My students are funny, smart, and try so hard to learn and please their teacher. My class is diverse, there are many students whose first language is not English so having hands on tools available to them is crucial to the success of their learning. They get so excited when I tell them, "We will be learning something new today." They especially love it when I bring out the hands-on learning tools available in our classroom. It is so fun to watch their minds grow and expand as they are manipulating objects that help to solidify the difficult concepts taught in first grade.

My Project

The Instax Cameras will allow my students to take photos during hands on lessons in science and math. This year when I teach about the plant cycle I hope to have my students take photos as their plants progress. Because these cameras print instant photos it means I don't have to find time to print the photos, or take them to be developed. In addition, I hope to have my students use these cameras when we learn about shapes. My hope is that they will use them to find shapes in every-day objects, take a photo, print it, and label the parts of the shape. There are many fun activities I can do using cameras in the classroom, the instant film requested in this project will make this a reality. The cases I have requested for the cameras will help to keep our cameras protected and clean in the event that we are doing messy projects.

A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.

It is my hope that with the use of these cameras, I will be able to create some new and engaging lessons that will inspire my students to be life long learners.
