Savvy Sketchbook Storage

My Project

I am implementing a vocabulary bell ringer to start my second through fifth grade classes during second semester to support student literacy, which is a goal at my school. My school district has generously provided sketchbooks for all elementary students in our district.

As the majority of my students return to my school year after year, I will keep their sketchbooks in my art room until they complete fifth grade.

I saw this modeled years ago and I have always wanted to include this in my practice. It was not possible as a shared art teacher due to time limitations. This library cart will be used to store the sketchbooks in an orderly manner. There really is no better way to store 300 sketchbooks! Organization is really important as an elementary art teacher because I teach all students at my school. I have acquired magazine holders via another funded project, which will enable me to store sketchbooks by table groups for each class and will save time in passing out/putting away. Our art classes are only fifty minutes long, so being timely is essential.

I am also requesting six sets of angular brushes in order to have a classroom set of 24. The Speedball linoleum blades will serve as refills because, during every printmaking unit, a few blades rust or get bent beyond useable and need to be replaced. Lastly, the mini canvas boards will be used for a sequin and glass tube bead collage project during the fourth quarter.
