My Project

Hello Everyone,

My name is Amanda Magno.

Within our reading curriculum, we will be learning about Non-Fiction texts. I would love the opportunity to read this story and showcase the Polar Bear stuffed animal. We will learn about what a Polar bear looks like using the stuffed animal. I will teach about the Polar Bears features, where Polar Bears live, what they eat, the climate that they live in, and their environments. After reading the story listed and showing the Polar Bear stuffed animal, I would love to give my students a fun and hands on craft. I will provide my students with a written activity and coloring sheet with facts about Polar Bears. After, I will freeze these mini–Polar Bear erasers in ice cube molds and bring them to my classroom in a cooler. we will then rescue the Polar Bears from the ice molds by cracking them with the mini wooden hammers listed. I will also provide paint brushes for the students to dip into warm water and to dip into a salt. The students will be able to "paint" the salt and warm water onto the ice molds. I plan to discuss how different temperatures affect the snow. We will talk about what makes ice melt and how we actually do not want the ice to melt in the Artic. We will then fill out a Polar Bear rescue certificate that I will create, and students will be able to share their Polar Bears name, the best rescue tool they used, and what their Polar Bears favorite food its.
