This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are active, funny, and eager to learn. Their backgrounds are diverse. Several students have single parent homes or joint custody therefore, the parent connection and commitment is very challenging. Most students are on the free or reduced lunch program. Since our grade level is sharing 36 laptops for 150 students, acquiring appropriate computer skills, utilizing resources, and spending time on the equipment is a challenge. The risk of losing completed work on shared laptops is devastating to say the least.
My Project
Our grade level shares laptops among 150 students. They are assigned typed reports every 6 weeks. Currently, 6 of 30 students provide their own flash drive for school use. I have a flash drive that I allow them to use if they need. Rotating a single flash drive for each student is time consuming.
By acquiring flash drives, each student can back up their work once our time limit is up on the laptops.
Each student will be assigned a flash drive by their classroom number. They will store their work for the school year. The flash drive can be used for Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.
