This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a founding member of a public school in a borough of New York. For the past 7 years, I have been privileged to work with first graders and kindergartners — students who come to school with few or no literacy skills. The students at my school live in the poorest congressional district in the country and deserve the best!
I am now back in 1st grade, and teaching remotely is challenging to say the least.
My old laptop is dying and I need a new one to be able to bring to my students the very best of remote learning.
My Project
Years ago, I posted a similar project and, funded with the goodness of this community, that computer helped our children grow and learn. Now, it is time for a new one - one that will help create exciting and valuable activities for our remote students.
I am new to remote learning, and need a computer that is compatible with all the software we use.
So many platforms, so many new things to learn.
We also need this MacBook Pro for the new smart board scheduled for our room. Once we are back in the classroom, we will be able to continue with up-to-date technology in the classroom. The continuity in teaching will ensure that our students lose none of their learning.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
