Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a Kindergarten Teacher in a Title 1 school. My students come to school everyday very eager to participate in our daily center rotation. One center is a Reading Center where the students enthusiastically read theme books, class-made books and big books. We have had a problem with our bookshelf. It is old and has a narrow lip to secure the books. Our precious books are constantly on the floor, even though the students are putting them on the shelf with care. As a result, many or our class books are damaged. We desperately need a new bookshelf with a wide lip on each row to display our books and prevent them from constantly falling on the floor! A new shelf will help my students by giving our books a safe storing place and will help reinforce taking care of property when students carefully clean up the area by allowing the books to stay on the shelf. The Reading Center is the most important center in a kindergarten class. Please help us "save our books" from being damaged by funding this proposal for a new bookshelf!
